All these are originally in A3 size(each page, not spreads). I felt that was a bit too big, so I went back to working with A4 sizes.

After tutorial, and final piece:

I added some space for the folding and binding on the front page of the spread. And made it bigger.

To explain how I ended up with my final product is too difficult. I had many different ideas but no way to conduct any of them. There was the campaign to “redesign the terms and conditions”, a support campaign for the “iFuneral-app”, how today we see QR-codes everywhere, info-graphics and a few more. I did make different posters and flyers to some of the ideas:

I ended up making a brochure to inform youth, and anyone else who uses iTunes or other services like it, that you don’t really own any of your digital assets.

In my opinion I should try to focus more and re-read the brief a lot more in my next assignment. Maybe try to stick to my research and try not to “overdo” everything I make.

School assignment 2011. If I remember correctly, the assignment was to take a very famous quote and make it modern. Well, something like that.

School assignment 2010. Two others and I made a small firm in our… You would have to understand the Norwegian school system to get when. Anyway, we did really good and won first prize for best website in our state.

School assignment 2009. We weren’t allowed to use anything else but type. And it had to look like type, we were not allowed to manipulate the letters. AND it had to be one single font.

Simply put: the left side is life and the right side is death. Again I found myself not really getting any original ideas. I wrote down some things I saw as positive and tried to find something negative to fit though this didn’t really help my uncreative mind to function as it usually does.

Coke – Pepsi, Mouse – Cat, A Tree – Fire etc. were the ideas I was working with. Not very original – I know. In the end I got a semi-original idea. Well, not really original though I tried to make up for that with some good artwork. The thought started as “white and black” and developed into “picket fence garden – prison”. Kind of strange as where I come from(Norway) a prison cell looks like a five-star-hotel, though almost everywhere else I would dare to presume it doesn’t look as nice. Fun experience!

For future assignments like this I should get a clear idea earlier as sitting 7-8 hours in illustrator really takes a tall on my hand. And maybe even choose something more simple.

Just started University, meeting new people, tutors, and starting a new life while trying to figure out this assignment. My tutor basically gave me the idea of what to do because my ideas were too unoriginal – of course she was right, they were horrible and very time consuming.

She suggested I use hand drawing and make a ‘grid’ of things I see on people on campus. Piercings, hats, hairstyles and so on. I started to draw some hairstyles. Then I drew them again using things I see around people on campus because I thought only the hairstyles were too simple.

It really gave me a chance to work on my lack of hand drawing skills so in the end this was a good project for me though the final didn’t turn out as I’d hoped. In the future I will think more about the structure and communication of the final piece as it does not really tell the story of a journey home.
